The second annual Shredder Event held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 was very successful.  Businesses and residents brought over 430 boxes of paper to be shredded.  The Rotary Club partnered with Altogether Shredding and offered this service to resident and businesses within the region.  The shredding event was held in 2021 and over thirty local business brought in truckloads of shredding.  Many small business owners asked Rotary to continue to offer this service.

Although the weather was gloomy, the event was very busy.  Business owners came in vans, trucks and SUV’s full of boxes.  Rotary Club members were happy to help unload the documents.  Boxes were emptied into large plastic bins then rolled over to the shredding truck.  Kimberly Bennett, owner of Altogether Shredding then used the mechanical lift to empty the plastic bin into the truck.  All documents were shredded securely on site.

Tyler Warman, local businessman and Mayor of Slave Lake said “as a small business we don’t have the need to hire shredding companies on a monthly basis so this service provided by Rotary is exactly what Boston Pizza needs.  I get a chance to empty my storage area every year and it helps your Club too."

The event ran from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, however by 12:30 pm the truck was full and no more documents could be accepted.   Last year the event was sold out as well.  This fundraiser raised $4300 for the Club.

This event is sponsored by ATCO and Northern Star Hotel.
